CPL Staff Gain Safety Passport

August 2010 saw CPL staff and key freelance staff pass the Safety Pass Alliance Course. The course is designed to give you an overview of Health & Safety at work, and has now become a requirement to be able work at certain UK venues.

The content deals with issues such as manual handling, workplace transport and slips, trips and falls in more detail and with more events specific reference, in short dealing with those hazards that present themselves in this sector.

A number of topics were covered, divided into six modules: Organising for Safety, Workplace Safety, Plant & Machinery, Noise & Health, Procedures, The Environment. It is a means of demonstrating, in practical terms, an employers intent to comply with their duties under the Management of H&S at Work Act and their commitment to safe working practices. It is a way of reducing risk and raising awareness amongst staff and employees. The passport can be used as an integral part of safety management policy clearly setting out what is expected of event staff in the realm of H&S.
